“It has long been a mystery how these giants are able to coordinate their movements over incredible distances to find food, fresh water, and the occasional unexpected adventure”Follow the movements of matriarch elephant, Knob Nose, and her herd of 18 to shed light on the way these giants of the savannah communicate, navigate and survive in the unforgiving environment of Africa’s Etosha National Park.
Filmmakers Ginger Mauney and her husband, the park veterinarian, chronicle the herd’s travel through the savannah and Knob Nose’s unique challenge of sustaining the entire group. Adult elephants consume massive amounts of food and water daily. Sustaining the entire group is Knob Nose’s challenge as she leads her herd over the harsh Namibian terrain.
Complex forces drive elephant migration. Is this a journey by chance or design? Learn of new discoveries as to how elephants communicate and recent research by meteorologists that suggest a link between elephant communication and atmospheric conditions. Now we know that elephants produce sounds far below the threshold of human hearing.
Listen as Mauney journeys with the elephants on a personal quest to unlock their mysteries by tracking their movements, following their ancient game paths and searching for clues as to exactly why they move.
