The Noble Horse - Region 2 DVD

Faithful servants, tireless comrades, and loyal friends
Discover the power, mystery, and romance of horses, one of nature’s most magnificent creations. The mystical bond between humans and horses has endured throughout the ages.
Travel back in time 4,000 years to the magic moment when the relationship between man and horse was forever changed.
Look at the wild stallions sparring on the Western plains, marvel at the high-stepping display of the Spanish horse, hear hooves thundering like heartbeats as rare horses are reintroduced to their Mongolian home.
Horses have been our faithful servants, our tireless comrades, and our loyal friends. National Geographic offers a privileged look at the many ways that horses have captured our imaginations and our hearts.
The Noble Horse is a spellbinding journey through the ages, beginning with the origins of the animal.
Superb writing and stunning photography ignite this history lesson: “Spark of ancient myth, pride of king and conqueror; history was forged to the beat of its hooves....”
At the documentary’s centre is a modern horse race in Mongolia, where horses are so revered that the national drink is fermented mare’s milk.
The narrative touches on an exclusive riding school in Spain, the fluctuating state of wild horses in the US, and the breaking of a wild horse in northern California.
The epilogue is the story of Carousel, an aging horse that helped its disabled rider win a blue ribbon in the 1996 Paralympics.
Just 60 years before the first moon landing, the world was driven by horsepower. This film could make you believe it still is.
Review:
“I was considering this film as a present for a 14 year old girl who loves horses and I think it will be just the thing for her. I was worried that the content and narrative might be too sophisticated or just not interesting to her, but I don’t think it’ll be a big problem. The film was definitely made for adults, but I believe teenagers will enjoy it as well, especially since the cinematography is so good. The horses are beautiful and beautifully filmed. There is a lot of history about the horse, but the emphasis of the video is definitely on the horse’s place, uses and problems in modern day society. Even someone who knows a lot about horses will learn from and enjoy this video - I know I did!”
